The Gospel in More Detail #6

Judgement and Eternity

On the third day after His death, Jesus was raised from the dead by God, and now rules in Heaven as King over all the earth. One day He will return as King to judge the inhabitants of the world and will find only two types of people:

  • Those who reject God's truth and continue to live life their own way.
  • Those who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and trust in Him to rule their lives (by endeavouring to live as God wants them to).

Those who continually reject God will be condemned by God. Those who accept God will be forgiven by Him, restored in their relationship with Him, and receive eternal life with Him.

The question is then, which of these two groups will you be in?

Jesus was nailed to a cross on a day we now refer to as "Good Friday". There He died.

On the third day, a day we now refer to as "Easter Sunday", God raised Him to life again. Soon after, He ascended into Heaven and is now seated at God's right hand as King and ruler of this world.

As ruler of the world He will come back again, and when He comes, the world as we know it now will cease. He will come to judge all the inhabitants of the earth, and they will be judged either as one who rebelled against God, or as one who is already forgiven through Jesus.

So people will either receive the punishment that they deserve or the reward that Jesus deserves. They will either be punished for eternity, or rewarded and drawn close to God for eternity. There is no in-between.

   The Bible says:  (top)

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him. John 3:36

The question does indeed remain: which of these two groups will you be in?

  • If you know you're not in the second group (those who trust in God) but would like to be, click here to find out how.
  • Please also feel free to email with any questions or thoughts.
