Take The Step Towards God

This section seeks to help you to accept God's outstretched hand to receive His forgiveness, and mend your relationship with Him.

The decision to give your life to God is a big one. There's no doubt about that. If you're considering giving your life to God it means that His Holy Spirit is working in you to do so.

Now if you're not sure about this type of commitment (especially over the Internet) I'd recommend that you pray to God, and ask Him to guide you towards Him in your life. In fact, I'd recommend you do this no matter how you hear about God, and no matter what you feel about God, because God will make Himself known to those who ask Him.

(If you're unsure about prayer, it is simply just thoughts that you want your Creator to listen to and respond to - so think it, and direct it to Him!)

   Asking God to Guide You Towards Him:  (top)

If you are thinking about your relationship with God, pray this simple prayer to ask God to guide you towards Him:

"Dear Lord, my Creator, out of your love please guide me towards you, so that I may know you, and know what you want from me. I desire to know you."

If you know you would like to accept God's offer, and in return give your life to Him (by seeking to live His way), a simple prayer to accept God into your life would be:

"Dear Lord, my Creator. I come before you as one who has rebelled against you. For this I am sorry. Through the death of your Son, please forgive me for ignoring you in the past, for trying to live my own life my own way. Please, help me to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, my King and my Way to you; and please come into my life, using me for your glory. Amen."

If you just asked God into your life the Bible tells us that there are angels in Heaven right now, rejoicing over your decision (Luke 15:10). Also God's Holy Spirit now lives in you, to guide you and help you to live the way God wants. Please email me as well and let me know - nothing makes me quite so happy as to receive this kind of news!

Next I'd recommend talking to someone you know who is a Christian, telling them about your decision. Trust me, they'll be overjoyed as well. If you don't know any Christians, I highly recommend finding a good Christian church nearby, either that you know of or from the telephone directory, and ring the minister/pastor/priest asking them for help. They should be more than willing to help in any way they can.

This contact with another Christian is of utmost importance, as a large part of the Christian life is time spent with others who know God. This second step has to be made.

If you're simply not sure, I'd still recommend talking to someone about it - either a Christian friend, a leader of a Christian Church nearby, or by emailing me. But above all, if you mean it, pray that God will make Himself known to you, and continue to seek Him out.
